Just The Way It Is In Life
The creation of Pug At The Beach is a direct result of a cancer scare I had a few years back. The short version is that the hospital where I worked and was a patient mixed up my lab results giving me a false positive for malignant liver cancer. What looked fatal was in fact not...at least not for me.

Sometimes that's just the way it is in life. A scene which looks one way might in fact be entirely the opposite. This photo taken today at Ocean Ridge Hammock Park, on South Florida's eastern coast, looks benign and pleasant but in reality was only partially so. In fact, it was really windy and almost unbearable.
I had gone to a different beach today just for variety's sake. Looking to find a good, quiet place to meditate, the wind was a disappointment. Sitting out in the open would leave me with an ear full of sand and the challenge of overcoming this adversity. Neither appealed to me. But I needed some beach time; some meditation time with my feet dug into the warm sand and my ears bathed in the sound of the ocean's surf. So I tucked into a sandy alcove and when I did, I noticed this photo opportunity.
And that's also just the way it is in life. You think you're about to get skunked out of something when in fact you've received a greater blessing. That's what Pug At The Beach is - my greater blessing. Yeah, I was a great phlebotomist, but I'm a better writer and my reach to help people is far greater now than it ever could have been working in a small hospital in a small community. These words of mine extend to a global audience, helping to heal all those who would take the time to read them.
Wherever you are, whether mired in the wrangling of a nasty divorce or suffering from a bad cold, take a moment and let Pug heal your hurts. Whether you read Pug's book or this blog, either way you'll find yourself feeling better because that's just the way it is with Pug At The Beach.
