Sanibel Island with Zoe

Life is short. I learned that many years ago. Since then, I've actively pursued my dreams and chased down adventures.

When my daughter Zoe visited me from Vermont recently, we embarked on many different adventures.
These photos are from our trip to Sanibel Island on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Sanibel Lighthouse. For more info on the lighthouse click here.

Lighthouse Beach. The bridge to the mainland is in the distance.

White Ibis. They have blue eyes and are distantly related to herons, storks and vultures.

White Ibis are social birds. This group is feeding on buried mole crabs.

Bowman Beach is at the northern end of Sanibel Island. This photo was taken on a Friday afternoon.

Another view of Bowman Beach. There's nothing quite like walking on a long stretch of beach.

Zoe is doing the legendary Sanibel Stoop. It's what shell collectors here on Sanibel do.

This is what Zoe is looking at. It's called shell hash and Sanibel has lots of it.

This beach erosion is rather drastic exposing the roots of sea grapes.
After you live at the beach for a while, shell collecting becomes a discriminating practice.
Zoe went home with a bag full of shells. You'll notice, in this photo, mine consisted of what fit in one hand.
Her adventure intention was to look for shells. Mine was to hang with my buddy, a great young woman who is a lot of fun.

My wish for you today is an adventure of your own making with the buddy of your choice. Life is short. Make it a beach day, whatever that looks like to you.
